  • The programme will offer 12th pass candidates a unique opportunity to gain practical work experience with IHG Hotels working as trainees and simultaneously earn a UGC recognised bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management. According to a report published by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), The Travel & Tourism Sector accounts for 330 million jobs or one in ten jobs on the planet, a figure which is only forecasted to continue increasing. What’s more, in the last five years, the Travel & Tourism sector has accounted for the creation of one in four new jobs globally.
For the Travel & Tourism sector to support 421 million jobs by 2029, the sector must be able to successfully attract, upskill and retain qualified talent. The evolution in the Travel & Tourism space, along with shifts taking place across the global workforce, will require businesses and governments alike to pay special attention to talent models.

Travel and tourism is the largest earner of foreign exchange worldwide and employs millions of people directly or indirectly through associated service industries. This industry includes everything from the government tourism departments and major multinational companies to the small-scale private travel agents. While working in this industry, one provides services to people who are traveling for business or holiday or both, thus catering to tour packages, pilgrim travel, adventure travel, or casual sightseeing. At almost every point of work in this field, employees need to interact personally with the customers and understand their needs while making them comfortable, to be able to provide the best service in terms of travel options and arrangements.

Minimum Working Hours in a Hotel for Trainees is 9 including one hour for Lunch and tea break.

 

Hospitality Management is a branch of knowledge that studies various aspects of the hospitality industry and its management. It teaches students how to run hotels, restaurants, and food service companies, manage travel and tourism, event management, and other related businesses. There are numerous benefits of doing hospitality management. Making billions of dollars in annual revenues worldwide, the hospitality industry gives plenty of opportunities for career development. It is a dynamic and fast-growing industry, which gives challenges to learn from and growth opportunities.
After graduating from hotel management from MSU & IHG there are lots of lucrative and interesting openings and a wide range of career options available for students:

Hotels: IHG is facilitating this program to make their manpower so everyone can get a job as the first choice in different categories of hotels IHG chain of Five Star hotels. One can get a job in different departments, i.e. Front Office, House Keeping, Food, and Beverage Service, and Food Production according to one’s skill and knowledge, and one’s interests. One can also make one’s career in ancillaries like a chain of restaurants, e.g. KFC, Taco-bell, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, etc.
Airline Industry: is also a good option for hotel management students. One can join as an Air Hostess or a Flight Steward. Some of them can also join as Ground Staff or as Public Relationship Officers.
Cruise Ship Hotel Management: Individuals from a variety of hospitality backgrounds can find a variety of opportunities in cruise ship management. Not only are there diverse job choices, but also the chance to earn an income while traveling to exotic ports for free! From preparing gourmet meals to finding a guest a new room, each cruise ship manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of service to customers. While their duties may not allow time to enjoy every Caribbean breeze or South American landscape that the ship finds, living in the equivalent of a Five-star hotel for extended periods presents its singular advantages.

Institutional Management: This is also another good option for hotel management students. They can enter the field of Institutional Management by supervising canteens in colleges, schools, factories, corporate set-ups, etc. Students also have an option to go to catering departments of Railways, Banks, Armed Forces, and Shipping Companies.

Retail sector: has a wide range open for hospitality management graduates. It includes PVR, Malls, Back office jobs, Hospitals, and the BPO industry.

Work Integrated and Apprenticeship embedded Hotel Management graduate program for the 12th pass candidates aspiring to build their career in Tourism & Hospitality Sector. Study Programmes in Hospitality and Hotel Management are concerned with coordinating the many operational tasks necessary for running a successful service unit. Managing a service unit requires knowledge and skills within a wide variety of fields. For example, a course in hotel management teaches students the skills to effectively manage different responsibilities such as reception and concierge services, food production, restaurant and bar functions, housekeeping, administration, sales and marketing, human resource, accounts, and conventions management and tourism, etc. Hotel Management students learn the importance of maintaining the character and style of a hotel, managing other employees, and always keeping an eye on the economic and cost/benefit balance of running a business. Hotel management colleges prepare students to become managers and owners of various businesses in the hospitality world. While hotels are central, these skills translate well to other hospitality businesses such as restaurants and entertainment facilities. Learning how to run a hotel is not just about renting out a room. A good Front Office Manager knows all aspects of the hotel. They understand daily operations, long-term planning, and management of all aspects of the business.

  • Ensure guests are greeted upon arrival and make time to interact effectively with guests. Respond appropriately to guest complaints, solicit feedback and build relationships to drive continuous improvement in guest satisfaction. Communicate any outstanding guest requests or issues to other necessary departments and ensure follow-up.
  • Interacts with guests regularly throughout the property to obtain feedback on the quality of products, service levels, and overall satisfaction.
  • Collect, provide, and maintain comprehensive updated knowledge to be prepared to meet guest requests and deliver superior service. These services could include places of interest, restaurants, limousine rentals, sightseeing tours, spa services, activities at the resort, and any other information of interest.
  • Coordinate and manage communication between guests and staff and follow up to ensure we resolve guests’ concerns.
  • Supports implementation of the customer recognition/service program, communicating and ensuring the process.
  • Supports regular inspection tours of the entire facility for appearance, safety, staffing, security, and maintenance.
  • Provide luxury guest service experiences for guests throughout their stay.
  • Improves service by communicating and assisting team members to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching when needed.
  • Analyze Guest feedback from Medallia and online reviews and suggest ways to improve ratings.
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.
